Comedian Tracy Morgan experienced a medical emergency during a New York Knicks game on March 17, 2025.
While seated courtside at Madison Square Garden during the Knicks’ matchup against the Miami Heat, Morgan suddenly became ill, vomiting and suffering a nosebleed. This led to a brief interruption of the game as staff attended to him and cleaned the area. Morgan was subsequently escorted out of the arena in a wheelchair.
He later revealed on Instagram that the cause was food poisoning and assured fans he was feeling better. Despite the incident, the Knicks secured a 116-95 victory.
Surge in Norovirus Cases
Health officials have reported a significant increase in norovirus cases across the United States. Norovirus, often referred to as the “stomach flu,” is a highly contagious virus that causes acute gastroenteritis, leading to symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted that there were 91 suspected or confirmed norovirus outbreaks reported in the first week of December 2024, surpassing the number of outbreaks during the same week in any year since 2012.
The virus spreads through contaminated food, water, and surfaces, and prevention strategies include frequent handwashing with soap and water, disinfecting surfaces, and proper food handling.
Listeria Outbreak Linked to Hospital Desserts
A fatal outbreak of listeria in NHS hospitals has resulted in the deaths of three individuals, with two more hospitalized after consuming contaminated desserts. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) reported that the infections occurred between May and December 2024 in hospitals across Yorkshire and Humber, the Northwest, West Midlands, and Wales. The affected individuals, aged between 68 and 89, had underlying health conditions. The source of the infection is suspected to be mousses and ice creams produced by Cool Delight Desserts, leading to a precautionary withdrawal of all chilled desserts from the supplier. Listeriosis can cause symptoms such as fever, aches, vomiting, and diarrhea, and is particularly severe in vulnerable populations.
Please note that vomiting can be a symptom of various conditions, including infections like norovirus and listeriosis. If you or someone you know is experiencing severe or persistent vomiting, it’s important to seek medical attention.
